This Site All Started With a Pool

I'm Jake Johnson and installing a pool in my home was not easy. First, I had to make the decision. I live alone since my wife died a few years ago, and it seemed rather frivolous to spend money on a pool. I'm not old, but age was a bit of a factor. It seemed almost irresponsible and childish to want a pool at my age. After I committed, I had to find the right contractor. With so many variables (price, time, personality, etc.), it was a lot harder than I thought. Next, I had to work with the contractor to find the proper space and size and look. After months of construction, I had my pool, but then I had to learn a lot about the proper care and upkeep. Overall, though, my little foray into construction (even if I didn't do any of the really hard work) was informative and worthwhile!

Why You Should Switch From Manual To Electric Garage Doors

If you have recently purchased, or, currently live in a home that has manual garage doors, you may feel that the doors are perfectly fine and feel no need to change them.  Your logic is likely that they are simply there to serve as a barrier that separates the contents of your garage from elements such as rain, snow or excessive sunlight.  However, now may be the right time for you to upgrade to electric doors.  Electric garage doors have a number of advantages over their manual counterparts, and you may be unaware of just how beneficial they really are.  Use this information to learn more about why you should switch your garage doors from manual to electric.

Electric Garage Doors Are The Safer Choice

Because you are able to lift and lower your manual garage door with ease, you may not know just how dangerous they really are.  Gravity can cause even the flimsiest of garage doors to suddenly become a solid, heavy wall of weight that can cause serious injury if it is not handled with the utmost care.  This is especially true if you have small children or pets, who can easily become trapped under a manual garage door that has suddenly slammed shut.

Switching to an electric garage door is one way to increase the safety of your garage door.  Electric garage doors are equipped with sensors that immediately reopen once an object comes within a certain radius of it.  In addition, electric garage doors also have a locking feature that keeps them in the open position until you press the remote to release them.  This helps to prevent them from slamming down into place and potentially hurting someone.

Electric Garage Doors Are More Secure

Installing electric garage doors can go a long way toward increasing the security of your home.  Unlike manual garage doors, which can typically be opened by anyone at anytime, electric garage doors must be opened either from the outside with a wireless remote, or from the inside by pressing a button that is within the garage.

Another great feature of electric garage doors is the fact that you can sync them with your overall security system so that a beeping sound will be emitted each time the door is opened.  This way, you will always be aware of when someone has entered your home so you can be on the alert.

An electric garage door is a smart investment that can even increase the value of your home.  Talk with a garage door contractor at a company like Shank Door today so you can have electric garage doors installed at your home.
